The Power of Letting Go: What to Remove to Reveal the Real You

My favourite story is of a man hacking away at a huge rock.

People gathered around him for days, watching with curiosity. Eventually, a child asked, "What is that?"

"It's an elephant," the man replied.

"No, it's a rock," the child said.

The man smiled. "No, it's an elephant. I'm just removing the parts that aren't."

Every thought, word, and action — and inaction — is either removing what doesn't belong, or layering on things that change our shape.

We celebrate what we add. But knowing what to remove is just as powerful.

At The Baby Cot Shop, we live by that principle. Everything we offer is the result of intentional curation — chosen because it speaks to the evolving needs of today's parents, not because it fills a gap in a catalogue.

It is why, as we introduce the Layali Bed — exclusive to our Harrods boutique — I see that same clarity in every decision. The Samuel & Sons trims. The textured fabrics. The silhouette. Nothing is there by accident.

Like everything we create, Layali is fully customisable. It does not ask your family to conform to it. It reveals you.

Now I want to turn that back to you.

What do you need to remove today?

Habits. People — yes, people. Your social media feed. Your diet. The story you keep telling yourself about what is and is not possible.

What is present in your life that no longer belongs?
