How Do You Want to Feel? A question to shape your life and space

How do you want to feel?

This question might surprise you. You may wonder what it has to do with nursery design.

When families come to us to design a nursery, playroom, or child's bedroom, the journey always begins with a consultation, even when they arrive with a clear vision already formed.

In those early conversations, I ask questions that seem to have little to do with furniture or colour. What I am really doing is learning about you. Your personality, your life, your inspirations, the things you hope for. Because design is not only about how a space looks. It is about how it feels. And how we feel shapes how we function.

The most important question I ask is simple: how do you want to feel in this space?

Over the years, the answers have stayed with me. Peaceful. Safe. Wowed. Nostalgic. Each one becomes the foundation, informing every colour choice, every texture, every piece of furniture in the room. The goal is always the same: to make the space feel like the emotion you named.

You and your baby will spend some of the most tender hours of your lives in that nursery. We want those memories to live in a space that felt right.

But today, this is not really about designing a nursery. I want to give you the question itself, because it has helped me through more of life's decisions than I can count.

Ask it at the start of your day. At the start of a project, a relationship, a new season. Ask it before you make a decision you are not sure about.

We live in a world that prizes how things look. Beauty has its place. I have built a business on it. But how you feel is what you actually live with.

You are the only person who gets to fully live your life.

So how do you want to feel?
