A year ago today, The Baby Cot Shop opened her concession at Harrods. When Harrods extended the invitation to join their Fourth Floor, it was a recognition. A recognition that luxury nursery design has earned its place alongside the finest things in the world. That the room where a child begins their life is not an afterthought, but a space worthy of the very best.
Toks Aruoture, founder of The Baby Cot Shop, put it plainly: "The nursery is often the most emotionally significant room a family will ever design. What we've seen over this past year at Harrods is that families, wherever they're from, want that room to be genuinely beautiful, genuinely personal, and built to last. That's what we've always done. Harrods has simply introduced us to more of the people who understand why it matters." That, in a sentence, is what our first year at Harrods has been.
What We Brought to the Fourth Floor
From the outset, we were clear about what our Harrods concession should feel like. Not a showroom in the traditional sense, but a space where parents could walk in at the beginning of what is, for many of them, the most meaningful project they will ever undertake, and immediately feel that they were in the right hands.
The concession was built around a distilled edit of our work: the pieces that best represent who we are and what we make. Handcrafted cot beds in timeless forms. Changing units and dressers with the kind of joinery that you feel before you see it. Nursing chairs designed for the long hours of early parenthood. Decor that will give your baby's room a facelift. Personalised gifts for new arrivals and baby showers. And, exclusively at Harrods, pieces you will not find anywhere else. We also brought our Interior Design programme with us, because for many families, choosing a piece of furniture is only the beginning. They want a room. A whole, beautiful room. And our team, now based on the Fourth Floor as well as in Chelsea, is there to make that happen.

The Families We've Had the Privilege of Meeting
We knew that Harrods drew an international clientele. We knew that families from across the globe come to Knightsbridge specifically because it represents a standard they trust. What we perhaps underestimated was how universal the feeling is; that hunger, shared by parents from London, from the Gulf States, from Europe and beyond, to create something truly meaningful for their child's first space.
Families purchasing London properties have come to us to furnish nurseries that will be ready before the baby arrives. Interior designers working on high-specification projects have found in us a partner who understands the language of quality they speak daily. First-time parents have sat down with our team for a consultation and left with a clarity and excitement they didn't have when they walked in. All of them, whatever their background and whatever their brief, have wanted the same thing: a room that is genuinely beautiful, built to last, and entirely their own. We have loved being the people who helped them build it.
What Harrods Has Made Possible
Being part of Harrods is not simply about location. When a family encounters The Baby Cot Shop on the Fourth Floor, they are encountering us within one of the most discerning retail environments in the world. A place that has spent over a century curating the finest things available. That context matters. It tells our clients, before we have said a single word, that what they are about to see has met an extraordinary standard.
It has also introduced us to clients who might never have found their way to King's Road, families for whom Harrods is a natural first port of call when they are looking for something exceptional. Our made-to-order process, our heirloom craftsmanship, and our bespoke configurations and finishes are things that discerning clients have always been looking for. Harrods has made it easier for them to find us.

We are proud of this first year. We are proud of the families we have worked with, the rooms we have helped create, and the standard we have upheld within one of the world's great retail institutions. But we are just getting started.
If you have not yet visited us on the Fourth Floor, we would love to welcome you. Come and see our heirloom pieces in person, touch the materials, and test the mechanisms. Bring your floor plan if you have one, or simply bring your ideas. Our team is there every day, Monday to Saturday from 10am to 9pm, and on Sundays from 11:30am to 6pm, ready to talk through whatever you have in mind. And if Chelsea is closer to you, you will find us there too, at 408 King's Road, Chelsea, London, SW10 0LJ.
