Why Real Wood Furniture Feels Different, And Always Will

Soulless. That’s how my son described it.

He had popped into The Baby Cot Shop, Chelsea, to help his mama- bless him, and within minutes, muttered,

“I can’t stand that AI music.”

Zack is a creative. An aerospace geek who also writes music. And he couldn’t hide his distaste for the track playing in the store.

That’s what it was.

A team member had played the same tune on repeat, day in, day out. I’d always disliked it,  so much so that when it filtered down to my office, I’d counter it with something more palatable from Spotify.

It turns out, it was AI-generated music.

And that explained everything.

The lyrics were nice. The melody was fine. But something was off.

Soulless. Zack nailed it.

Because without soul, everything loses meaning. A hug from a loved one feels different from hugging a pillow. It’s the soul that gives depth, feeling, and connection.

And that’s why I’m proud of what we’ve built at The Baby Cot Shop.

Our handcrafted baby furniture is made by skilled artisans, not churned out by machines.

Our cots are handcrafted from real wood, not composites or synthetics.

Have you seen those acrylic cots? Visually striking, yes, but they lack the warmth and grace that only solid wood carries with time. They don’t age gracefully. They don’t tell a story and they can’t absorb memories.

Furniture, like music, should carry a soul.

The soul of the craftsman. The life of the tree. The beauty of intentional design.

If you want a nursery that feels timeless, personal, and alive with meaning, we’d be honoured to help you design one.
