Baby nursery interior design trends to get on board with this month

Nursery room makeover in the works? These interior design trends are set to sweep the charts this year (bonus – they’re timeless, so won’t be going out of style anytime soon).

STATEMENT BEDS
The trend: A mini version of the impressive arty headboards craze, the nursery trend is more focused on jaw-dropping, premium beds that spark their imagination.
Why it’s big right now: Design platform Houzz reported that ‘statement headboard’ searches increased by 87% last year. And now, people are starting to see them as the focal point of every bedroom. We couldn’t agree more.
How to do it: When your little one’s ready to transition to their own bed, choose one that really stands out and fills the room with magic. They’ll feel super-special in a personalised bed or one specifically designed as their favourite thing, like a plane, hot air balloon or train.

CUTE ‘N COSY CLASSROOM

The trend: Nurseries aren’t just for sleeping in this year. 2022 sees the nursery divided up into different learning hubs as mums combine education with play, like a mini classroom.

Why it’s big right now: Educational décor is increasing in popularity  as families are spending more time at home (due to home schooling or quality family time indoors this winter). The benefit? A room that inspires your little one from an early age and encourages academic interest.

How to do it: Reading corners, learning hubs, numerical and alphabet themed décor – the list goes on. Insert engaging, fun educational décor everywhere they look, so they can learn in the comfort of their familiar setting.

BOTANICAL BABY ROOM OASIS

The trend: Bringing nature indoors to increase your little one’s awareness of the great outdoors and connection with greenery.

Why it’s big right now: According to Pinterest Predicts 2022, biophilic designs are hot right now. And opting for plant-based décor solutions in your home can really bring a sense of calm and wellbeing, so obviously we’re dubbing botanical designs as the next big thing for baby nurseries.

How to do it: Don’t fret, you won’t need to build a plant wall or make an interior garden to sport the trend. Simply go for floral wallpaper designs, nature-themed wall art and sustainable materials that are eco-conscious at their core.

SAFARI-THEMED DECOR

The trend: Linen, art, wallpaper and wild animal toys that take you on a safari adventure across the savanna.

Why it’s big right now: The Happy Linen Company announced that searches for ‘safari crib bedding’ rocketed by a staggering 100% in the last year. So 2022 is the year nursery décor tells stories, transports us to desert plains and makes baby feel like they’re constantly exploring.

How to do it: Safari-themed wallpaper and wall art is a winner for all unisex nurseries. Accessorise their room with wild creature toys like giraffes and elephants too.
