The Need for Inspirational Art for Children

It is important that a family home is not only aesthetically pleasing but also fertile and rich in nutrients if you like, for the children and adults to thrive. As my boys get older I have been thinking about how important it is for their environment to be inspiring and encourage growth of a healthy mind. [caption id="attachment_2494" align="aligncenter" width="333"] Family, where life begins and love never dies[/caption] This beautiful art is available from Mini Learners on Etsy, I love the fact that you simply purchase, email the digital file to your framer and collect it all printed, framed and ready to hang. Over the years as an interior designer, I have found that sometimes people lean heavily towards only creating an aesthetic space. The truth is that our home is an extension of ourselves. Just as we look after our bodies so that it is healthy and protected from illness, our homes should also protect us from the negativity that is found outside its walls. I was in a discussion with a new acquaintance yesterday and the conversation somehow led us to talking about the press. The news is wired to be negative, because that's what gets our attention. Unfortunately that also creates a negative bubble in which we live. Our minds become marinated with this toxic brew and it ultimately affects our outlook on life. It is important to consider this when creating your own space. Your home is a refuge away from that bubble, a place where minds thrive and dreams have every possibility of coming true. Our environment counts for a lot and we have the free rein to make it stimulating. I am excited to see an increase in the use of inspiring art for babies and children. I want to encourage you to add this to your child's room or baby's nursery. Children are born with an inate expectation for good and we must do all we can to surround them with so much of it, that when they leave the safety of the home they will not become tainted by the negativity that's out there. Their minds are fertile, let's sow good seeds. It is an extract from a short poem by Erin Hanson, a young talented poet whose work is loved by people literally all over the world. The poem might as well be the story of my life as I sometimes struggle to go through with an idea, for fear that a better one will come along and I'll miss out on or fail at the choice I made. The complete poem is: There is freedom waiting for you, On the breezes of the sky, And you ask "What if I fall?" Oh but my darling, What if you fly? [caption id="attachment_2496" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Dream Imagine Believe[/caption] Quotes can be reporoduced on canvas or handpainted by a calligrapher for your child's room. Another inspirational idea is to reproduce your mother or father's favourite saying if you have found it inspirational.  This art speaks positively over your heart as well as your child's, and is even personalised. Part of good parenting is having great expectations about your child, which will translate into the choice of words you use and the general way you communicate with your child. Available on Etsy, it comes in boy and girl versions.   [caption id="attachment_2490" align="aligncenter" width="398"] You are braver than you believe[/caption] When choosing inspirational art for your child, consider where they seem to struggle the most. Are there issues with their ability? Physical appearance or confidence? Look for quotes and sayings that address these and create works of art with it. I found this on Live Well Media, a treasure trove of personalised art, books and gifts for children. There are many ancient and modern exhortations to guard, feed and tend our minds, the issues of life really do flow from it. So before shopping for nursery art, do consider this little point, is it inspiring? “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” – Albert Einstein
