The world-class alternative floral art show is back, transforming the streets of Chelsea with breath-taking floral displays. The annual competition has grown dramatically each year, with Chelsea’s shops, restaurants and hotels adorning themselves with creative designs to compete for the coveted awards.
The Baby Cot Shop joins 87 other shops to take part in this year's Chelsea in Bloom. Their theme is drawn from Sophocles' quote on motherhood: "Children are the anchor that hold a mother to life". Learn more about the inspiration and see the display here.
2019’s theme is ‘Under the Sea’. The wonderful underwater world provides a wealth of inspiration, with the need to conserve and protect our oceans increasingly in the spotlight – this year’s event will raise awareness and funds for Plastic Oceans UK, whose vision is to end plastic pollution. Visit their interactive installation on Sloane Square during the week to learn more.
Sloane Square will once more become home to an Information Point (to book a free rickshaw ride or walking tour of the area’s highlights), pop-up bar area and stunning central floral installation featuring a show-stopping coral reef complete with giant dolphin made from mixed foliage, and an octopus with tentacles of celosia heads and pincushion proteas.
Each year, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit Awards are awarded to participants by RHS judges, in addition to the top awards for ‘Best Floral Display’, ‘Highly Commended’ and ‘Innovation Award’. Voting for ‘People’s Champion’ is decided by the public – voting opens on the Chelsea in Bloom website from Tuesday 21st May (closing at midnight on Thurs 23rd and announced on Friday 24th May).
Pick up your free guide or book a complimentary rickshaw tour from the central Info Point on Sloane Square throughout the week.
